Kombucha is back at Whole Foods!

20 Aug

Dinner and Groceries at Whole Foods. What a treat! But tonight, there was an extra special treat!

Out of the corner of my eye, look what I spotted!

Yes, Kombucha is back! Well, it never left some places in LA…… BUT, it’s back at Whole Foods, and that’s where I usually buy it.

You may have taken note of the recent controversies over Kombucha and it’s alcohol content. Not sure what the resolution is… still need to research that. I just wanted to get this post out there because I am so excited about this new development.

No GT’s at Whole Foods yet. I hope they come back soon. They are still my favorite. Whole Foods has brought back High Country, and one other brand I’ve never tried. It’s something!

Thank you, Whole Foods!

Kombucha No More

18 Jun

Okay. What just happened?!

What did she say?!

I tried to order a kombucha on tap about an hour ago, and the lady behind the counter said that my GTs Kombucha on Tap was recalled by Whole Foods!!

Huh, What?!

Yes. It gets worse.

ALL kombucha, on tap and bottled, have been recalled by Whole Foods and other major suppliers.

Do Your Health and Beauty Products Cause Cancer?

3 Jun

Not many people seem interested in this topic. I’m not sure why. Is it because people feel that this isn’t a serious issue? When I tell people that their health and beauty products cause cancer, they seem to blow me off. So I let them because they aren’t interested. But when does it become of concern? What will it take for people to realize how serious this is?

This website is a fantastic resource for finding out what is really in your health and beauty products: Skin Deep: Cosmetic Safety Database

I only buy my products at Whole Foods Market. I’ve trusted them for years. Well, Skin Deep: Cosmetic Safety Database has proven me right. Now I can see exactly how good or mildly unhealthy my products really are, based on this amazing resource! I’ve already switched from Nature’s Gate to Aubrey Organics for my shampoo/conditioner.

Skin Deep: Cosmetic Safety Database uses a 1-10 point scale to give you a general idea of where your product falls in the healthy spectrum. You can click in to get specifics in the form of a detailed list of ingredients and their hazards.

Kombucha On Tap

1 Jun

It was only three years ago that I discovered the amazing health benefits of Kombucha. It was one of those amazing finds at Whole Foods. You know, when you walk into Whole Foods, and you are overwhelmed with all the choices… you just want to try everything! Well, that’s how I discovered Kombucha. It looked good and it came with a list of health benefits.

The first Kombucha I ever tried was GT’sĀ Original. Coincidentally my favorite brand of Kombucha today is GT’s. Their brand soars above all of the others because of their mastery of balancing perfect carbonation and amazing flavor. Others don’t even come close.

Coincidentally, GT’s is located in Los Angeles. Even more coincidentally the Kombucha on Tap at Whole Foods is GT’s brand!

This whole Kombucha on Tap just recently came to Whole Foods. I tried it for the first time last week. Wow-e-wow! My goodness. It was way better than my wildest dreams. Whereas the bottled Kombucha has strings of bacteria floating around because it’s a live food, the tap has no strings. Whereas the bottled GT’s has amazing flavor, the GT’s on Tap has even more amazing flavor.

I got the Ginger Kombucha on Tap. The hints of ginger were like little floral reveries dancing on my tongue. AMAZING! There were two other flavors available: Grape and Super Fruit. I can’t wait to try them too!

My First trip to Austin, TX

7 Apr

Story goes – Sam and Matt moved to Austin, TX for his new job in the music industry, in November 2008. Back then I knew that I had a huge line-up of trips for 2009, so I told Sam that I would come visit them in Spring of 2010. Boy, am I a planner or what?! April 2010, and where do I go? Austin, TX.

So Sam and Matt have a three year old girl named Austin. She is just adorable and so smart. They must really love Austin to name their kid Austin! Well, she was named while still living in Los Angeles. Both Sam and Matt had lived in Austin, TX in the past so it was fitting, that they name their first born child, Austin, and shortly thereafter move to Austin.

Okay, enough mentions of Austin. Here’s what we did while I was there! (more…)

Recycling Corks!

7 Apr

I’ve been looking for a place to recycle all of my wine corks. I have a whole box full of them! I didn’t want to just trash them. Low and behold, in my Whole Foods Newsletter today, there is a bit on recycling corks!
